Broota is an online marketplace supporting direct equity investments from individual investors to small companies in Latin America. Through the website, investors will find free access to investment ideas, friendly-user tools to conduct due diligence on companies, and online transaction capabilities to make investments in an easy and safe way. Broota was the first equity crowdfunding in Latin America, and raised over $400k for Startups in Chile in its first six months. Launched in Brazil in May 2014, it uses a Convertible Debt to carry out the investments. Under this model, investors are shielded from the liability that exists with investing in small and micro companies in Brazil, while startups are freed from the additional burden of having numerous new voting shareholders. After the initial transaction, Broota continues to provide investor relation tools to both parties in the form of legal, manpower and marketing support.
